Hi Everyone,
I have just purchased a new coolant temp sensor. The reason for this is after driving for 5mins the needle shoots to the right.
Here is the problem. I bought a new sensor and went to fit it, its not connected!
so why does the temp shoot up and where the wire i need connected?
Im very confused?

Temp guage sensor is yellow/red wire
if you cant find it then go looking in the black box as it connects via one of the two round connectors in there
i think its probably shorted to the body somewhere which would make it go up to max as this is what the sensor does
always possible there is a problem with the low level circuit also which works with the guage circuit

Wow,
Thankyou, Thamkyou, Thankyou.
I found the wire had been attached to another earth. You can see it in the picture up from the red circle and the a little left into a white plastic connector. I swapped over the sensors, reconnected the red/yellow to it and hay presto it got up to 1/2 way and stayed there while i drove about for 15mins.
I love this forum.
