It's the rubber sleeve that protects the wires for the rear wiper between the tailgate and the vehicle. Mine is well and truly perished and seems to be letting water into the van.

Wondering if anyone would happen to know the correct name of this part and where I might be able to get my hands on one?

Vw still do them and it's a tailgate wiring grommet, or it was last year when I got mine.
