Trolley Jack?

Post by nobbyfox »

I would like to purchase a trolley jack and appropriate axle stands. Can anyone recommend a manufacturer?
Clarke products from Machine Mart seem reasonable and have been happy with the build quality in the past. Or Halfords??

Weight? Would of thought that 2 tonnes would be more than enough.

Thanks

The 2 tonne ones are man enough but are a bit short in height and to comfortably use you need to make some jacking pads/blocks.

This is what I did.

Either that or buy a bigger trolley jack.

Im having the same deliberation at the minute. I though about going for a highlift jack. But I want it to get under my fiesta also!

Always used the Clarke from Machine Mart myself and been more than happy with them. I believe they also do an extended lift one, but unfortunately the price is extended as well.

This is the one I'm considering at the moment.

I had a halfords one before which to lower you had to take the lifting lever out and turn a screw to relieve the pressure. This eventually stripped, this scrapping a 60 quid jack

You need something with a slightly higher lift as the chassis is quite a bit taller on a T25....this is what I have although I bought it on a special at under £40.

I've got one of these (3ton heavy duty)...., it is fairly heavy, but does a decent job.

Coupled with this Jack pad http://www.clasohlson.com/uk/Jack-Pad/40-7303" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; which fits neatly,
it's quite good really.

Thank you all for the replies. I will go shopping this weekend. My nearest Machine Mart is in Twickenham though. :o

The Twickenham store is not huge. Ring ahead to check stock if you are getting one from them.
I've decided to go for the sgs engineering 3 ton jack in the end.
