diesel tps where to find it?

Post by Joloke08 »

We were supposed to be getting our Velle back today from the Automatic transmission specialists but they are now claiming after a £2000 gearbox rebuild its an external electrical issue

Ok so out van isnt a t25 its a T4 but they say its either the gearbox ECU or the Throttle Possition Sensor?

Before we get stung for more cash does anybody know where the TPS is on a diesel?

I would know where it was on a petrol but though searching in vain online i cant find any reference to a T4 Diesel TPS

Can anybody help?

I wasnt sure if the T25 Diesel has a similar diesel pump?

My Van has a 2.4d AAB Code engine if that helps?

Jodie :)

Diesels dont have a throttle body. They are a massive unristricted air pump, speed governed by the amount of fuel dumped in.

They 'might' be referring to the pedal which has a postioning potentiometer for the ecu, not a throttle body though.

However.....

Yours is a 2.4 IDI engine so doesnt have an ecu controlling the engine. Cant say i know much about the boxes but would have thought it wouldnt have an ecu, maybe a basic box of tricks for the kickdown but wouldnt have thought it was more than solenoids etc rather than an ecu.

After doing your research i would personally be asking them very direct questions and ask them to physically point out to you exactly what is wrong and identify the parts they are looking at and write them down.

Could be a simple 'communication' issue or could be they are trying it on. good luck either way :ok

Dont think my face fits on their clicky forum

I may just join the Brickyard :ok

Deep down i dont think it has a TPS either but cant say for certain?

It Definately has a Transmission ECU and i can help but wonder if the cable between the two is at fault?
