1.6td jx won't start

Post by JJJackson »

Hi 1.6td jx has always started on the button, now won't start. Changed the fuel filter and a small section of pipe connecting filter to fuel inlet pipe as could see air.

Next step to change thermovalve on top of filter, any other ideas? Also what mm is the fuel lines?

Thanks

James

Check the return/ bleed off piping. It's the black cotton covered tubing that goes from injector to injector.
It perishes and lets air in.

New fuel filter and pipe between filter and pump changed. Cracked pipe from diesel tank changed. Appears to be no air in system now, but won't start without being towed, literally will start after towing 10ft and runs lovely. Glow plugs next, then after that abit stuck, any other ideas.

Injector pipe work also lucks ok.

Very likely to be glow plugs, are you getting black smoke when cranking? If so the fuel is probably OK.

Would the cold start light come on still if the fuse wasn't working ?

That's a normal failure mode for wiring, the inner conductor work hardens but the insulation stays flexible.
