1Yfan belt slipping

Post by hefti »

So I'm pretty sure my van has a 1y engine conversion from everything I've read. Former owner was no help on this issue. Its a 1.9 diesel for definate. Anyway after the fan belt snapping on our first journey due to oil overfill....(old owner didn't mention this either!) We replaced it and now its slipping a bit. How do I tighten it? I've found a raft of info on tightening the standard ones but this is a 5 grooved one I'm presuming the process is similar? Any help appreciated as we're off to Silverstone tomorrow and I want her to be running beautifully.
Thanks
Heather

Depends of how the conversion was done. If it has the later ribbed belt it is normally self adjusting. The early on just involves pulling the alternator up to tighten the belt
