I am waiting for a reply from one of the wbx-6 guys about the detail work he did on fitting Megasquirt efi to his engine.
There are more than a few retrofitted classics out there running MS now, it seems that the low cost of the kit and ease of setup with a laptop is a no-brainer over thirsty twin-choke downdraft carbs that need specialist old-school wizards to set them up properly.
Everyone wants better mileage and driveability!

Not sure if its he same bus but the Brown Oettinger (owned by Dave?) think that was put on MS by a guy called Danny in Hereford.
Know where to find him if needs be
Nice one Elvis. Dave got p*ssed off with the 6's lack of reliability in the end didn't he? Losing compression or a persistant misfire on 2 pots iirc.
Now its a "Nottinger" with an EJ25.

Just read this thread and was interested as I was thinking of doing something similar. Ive got a 1.9 with carb at moment and wanted something more powerfull/effiecient and considered going down the subaru route.
But im now considering getting a more modern donor vehicle Ripping the sensors / injectors / throttle body etc. out of the donor vehicle and conneting them up to the wbx.
I considered the megasquirt route for ecu but it seems quite expensive to me for what it is , so i am even toying with idea of creating my own ecu out of a cheap pic microcontroller (yes must be mad).
Need some kind of inlet manifold that will mate to the wbx and have ports to put the injectors in and a way of connecting that to the throttle body.
Also getting the coil on plu to sit on the spark plugs could be interesting.
If anyone has got any further with this or has more ideas then please get in touch...

Shaundon wrote:Then again might be better getting the manifold from a DJ and using that - does the injectors on a DJ fire directly into the cylinder ports?
They fit into the manifold, just above the port. Given that injection manifolds are available, I'd definitely start from there.
I think your right - shame as i have a spare dg carb inlet manifold. Anyone want to swap for a efi one?
As for ignition , i'm thinking something like this might be better than trying to attach coil on plug type http://www.efi-parts.co.uk/index.php?productID=121. Should be able to fire these direct from the ecu.

Id get Andrew at Campershack in Grantham yo lpg it with a Blos 'carb' the blos really suits thesd engines, drives great , quiet and economical. I have a dg so cant speak to 2.1 but have read good things.

Elvis, is it your intention to fit the MS on a 2.1 or on what would appear to be one of your favorites the 2.0 GTI ?
Only asking as I have had an interest in MS for several years after intending fitting it to my 3.9 range rover but never actually taking the plunge!
I have all the parts and tdi lump ready to drop in me van (ex uprated gearbox), however I also like the idea of the 2.0 GTI with my std g/box and the WBX with MS has certainly got interesting appeal especially if it can give new life to a DG or DJ lump.
Please keep us posted on your progress with MS.

Elvis knows alright. Positively twitching for my Oetti 2500 to land and as soon as I have robbed another Post Office, thats getting full-fat MS (if it can really handle running full dual maps and firing lpg injectors)
Game on.
