Interesting way to weld

Heck, even allowing for inexperience, WHY would anyone weld a rear wheel arch on with a vertical seam on the outside?

Surely, it would seem obvious that a few well placed welds from the inside is the right way to do it. The original panel would have given this away. :

I admire his willingness to have a go (always good to see) but please don't follow that as a blueprint for how to do it. He'd done so well up to that point. What happened? Was he distracted?

It's not easy to find the right info about that sort of panel repair online. I am currently looking for answers and I did come across that video, however I know it will be a prepping nightmare, and probably a waste of a panel. I know it's a weld and bond from the inside job, but unless you have done one before you have no idea.


His other fabrications are not bad though, don't know why he decided to do that though from the outside.

That guy is a complete fuggin idiot.
Persg , if you are looking for info on welding panels look through all mm posts on here. It will take some time but well worth it . I think one of my dogs could do better than on those clips.

To be fair, he has had a go and he may be a great man in all other respects but it puts me in mind of a comment I once saw on a student essay:

"This essay was both good, and original. Unfortunately that which was good was not original and that which was original, was not good"

I don't know, perhaps he had good reason to do it like that - keep out the draughts. Or perhaps it was his first mig welder and simply got carried away. We may never know.

Actually, on reflection, maybe he is two planks short. In video 6 below (and not quite sure why he made it all episodic other than for entertainment purposes), no attempt has been made to remove ANY of the interior. Curtains, cupboards, even the door card is still there. Damn, and there I was thinking I might pop round for some useful pointers.
