Ok. As the title says am I just being thick. I am trying to order all the parts I need to service my van.
Let me stress I have read wiki.
In looking to order things ie oil I put my reg in to carparts4less and it only brings up 5-40w oil. How ever every I read says 15-40w.
Also I am looking at oil filters but it only brings up Bosch were the wiki says use Mann. Are Bosch any good.
Finally what spark plugs and HT leads do people recommend. As I cant find any recommendations on these.
I know this has probably been done to death and people are fed up with answering. However this is the first time I've done it and I'm desperate not to mess it up.
I've never had to find such specific stuff before.
I'm used to halfords own for everything.
The actual work is no problem it is just the parts I'm struggling with.
Again sorry for being a dumb ass.
It's all good a 1986 water cooled dg.
Thanks.

Oil = http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l/p/a ... &0&cc5_246
Plugs = Bosch WR7DC
The ignition lead selection on there is a mess, you type in an 86 van the leads it lists are clearly stated as for only up to 84 (different end connections).
Bosch filter = I don't know, I buy Mann from the VW dealers (about a fiver)
If you have to buy "online" why not forget the slight saving and have the peace of mind buying from T25 specialists who only sell what they themselves fit and know what fits what = Brickwerks
Or just go to your local Euro Car Parts depot
Don't forget to get a sump plug washer either (14mm)

Re: OMG am I just being thick
Thanks. I that's awesome. Think I may well. I'd rather spend money and get it right then spend more money when it goes wrong. Lol.

Don't forget to get a new sump plug washer either (14mm) Your supposed to use a new one each time, amazing how many folk don't and they are only pennies from any decent spares shop (and Halfords )

carparts4less are the same as http://www.eurocarparts.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; who have branches with one in Plymouth. So if you need stuff faster order online and reserve the stuff for store collection (the homepage generally has a discount code to enter for service items)
15w/40 oil
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/car-a ... &0&cc5_246" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Spark Plugs (they are WR7DC+)
https://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volk ... 5d4&000301" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Oil Filter
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... e3b&000231" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Air Filter
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... cdd&000008" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
They also sell nightbreaker headlights and the like
http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/Volks ... 5ba&000384" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But I would get Beru dizzy cap, rotor arm and ignition leads from brickwerks.
I also only use eurocarparts for service stuff other parts I generally get from brickwerks (as I know they will be good quality)
