Replacing steering lock bearing

Post by Cruz »

Can you get the bearing that is fitted to the steering lock housing? I have a bit of play in the wheel.

I've taken the column apart and replaced the rubbery insert bush that fits in the bearing but it seems to be the actual bearing that is worn.

Unless it's normal for their to be a bit of play in the inner ball bearings of the bearing??

I assume it's part of the steering lock and isn't sold seperatley?

For what its worth I purchased a new lock housing with bearing included (cheapo one of eBay) it turned out to be a worn housing and not the bearing, although the new bearing that came with housing had loads more play in it than the original German one ?

Old bearing new housing = no play :-)
