CV joints and mot

Hi everybody
MOT due in 6 weeks and i noticed a clunking from the rear wheel, sounds like a CV joint.

Question is : -is the CV joint a MOT fail? or is it just the boots that fail a mot

to be honest bit of a redundant question as i will have to fix it anyway.

Split CV boots on a front wheel drive vehicle are a failure but only because the steering could theoretically be effected. As steering would not effected on RWD I'm pretty sure this would just be an advisory. However, you know it needs doing in any case.
