Fitting chrome inserts to side window.

Post by Pandion »

I have a long strip ot chrome trim that I need to fit to the rear side window, behind the door, of my Westy. I was told to use washing up liquid in the rubber channel and slide it in. After 2 hours I still can't get the trim to slide in more than 10cm. What am I doing wrong? I am frustrated and have a very sore, bruised thumb.

All help and advice appreciated

Are you using the correct tool - I found that I had to squeeze the diamond into a slightly narrower shape when I did mine.

Also I found that using hot water on the insert as you go round the corners helped it bend into place more easily.

Measure the width of your filler strip - just measured my diamond tool and it is 10mm so the 11mm one should be right, as I said earlier mine needed a squeeze with pliers to get it just right. Check your strip first though - it may be different.

you push the tool through the channel and feed the strip in as the tool widens the channel

this one has a wheel and pushes it in for you but it's not required really
