Re: clutch renewal cost.
Worst I ever heard was £480 at a country garage and I did his mates the same week for £155 - including the price of the clutch!

@cov kid, if the need arises I'll be posting you a bus ticket. Please don't be offended but after watching your video, I'm sure you'll be able to save me even more money by using your OAP tyravel card!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1 hour? If I allocated the whole day, then there would be plenty of time tea/cursing/weeping/warming fingers, etc.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Salisbury not far. Bit cold/wet at mo though
I did change a gearbox for someone using a Big Blue Bus ticket to get there once though. Was laid i a wet puddle in Manchester and couldn't move for flippin days afterwards lol
Can definately change a clutch in an hour though - 1 1/2 hours tops. Done so many now. Had my gearbox in and out five times in one day during the Summer trying to isdolate a clutch problem but it was Mercdoctor who actually spotted the cause. Sometimes it takes two heads to solve a prob....

Nah, it was dafter than that Martin. When I removed old release bearing (which by then was just three bits barely held together). I fitted the new one but failed to notice a ring of metal left over from the bearing, sitting at the back of the input shaft against the bellhousing. You honestly couldn't see it by eye, or at least I can't without me specs. Clutch would work great with a half inch gap between gearbox and engine but longer studs and spacers seemed a bit harsh
Release fork had flats on it but Marcus built those up in situ with weld - worked a treat.
