Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.
Just got a delivery of Veltrim and 10 cans of adhivise from Harrison's Trim Supplies. Great value compared to some sellers of the stuff here in Ireland. Found one company that was looking for €8 per square meter, min purchase 2mtrs. You had to buy the glue separate for nearly €10 a can. Buying from Britain inc cost of delivery was so much cheaper for the same product. Get cracking on this the weekend. Dont know whether to remove the rear windows or work around them.

Sorry about the poor quality. Will stick up a few better ones tomorrow. Decided to take out the windows. I found it near impossible to fit the fabric with the window in and wasted a large cut of the stuff trying. Did one of the hardboard panels aswell. Should be better progress tomorrow though.

Impressed with the way the lining is turning out for a beginner. The veltrim is densely woven and can be a pain around the window curves.

As good as finished the carpeting today. I was also the subject to the age old rule of measure twice and cut once

Thanks, its taking an age to get done, not out of difficulty just time. Still, better to do it right rather than rushing it. The interior units will be going ahead in the next few weeks all going well. Just have to try and locate some "T" bolts to use in VW's C rails

Thats looks like a good show! Im not working that day so I may just try and make it down!! If i do I will be bringing the passat as the van is currently of the road while the work is going on. Lovely part of the country and looks to be very well organised by the site.
Would a t3 diesel owner be welcomed at eircooled i wonder??

Excellent! I'm going to make an effort to go also...
Despite the name they seem to be very welcoming of engines with waterjackets, including diesels! (My T3 is also diesel)

Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.
Today I got the first of three 12 sockets sorted out in the van. Got the power from one of three live lugs on the standard fuse box. Also connected the LED light that can be seen in older posts in this thread. I took the power source from the rear courtesy light which the two lights then shared. Will post pictures again as the the battery in the mobile is dead and cant seem to locate the charger
Thank God for the landline!!

Work has been slow the last while on account of the weather. While re installing the roof I managed to crack a few of these boys.
There are four in total holding up the front section. Any VW mind out there know where one might get hold of the same if not a stronger unit? Also came across a 4 core wire that came from the fuse box through the front drivers side pillar and the end rested in behind the panel near the roof. It wasnt connected to anything as it was sniped at either end. It was in the way and wanted rid of it. However a day may come where I may want to send cables back the same way so before I removed it, I attached twine to one end and pulled through leaving the twine behind so in the future I just need to attach the wires and pull through again. Picture not much use but said Id post it all the same:)

Now, got the last few bits today for the interior fit out. Three 8x4 sheets of birch ply are to be used for the interior on 2x1 1/2 frame. Starting tomorrow morning. Also got the floor covering. It's a linoleum type material, but safety grade so hard wearing.

Re: Ex German Army T3 Conversion To Camper.

Started with making up the carcass, good strong frame. Butt jointed the joints but used two long screws on each join, also laid out what I need in the units. Gas, cooler etc. and set out space as required.

Cut the birch ply to cover the frame. Will upload more photos tomorrow. Some weather we have been having here by the way.....f...ing freezing!
