Re: Alternator upgrade question!!
Hmmmm not a Bosch, strange.
Yup 45ah was the lowest powered alternator fitted to a T25. As you are already changing I would say 'Yes' you might as well go for something more powerful. A 65ah (push terminal block type) which are readily available, won't cost you anymore than a 45ah so you might as well. Later 65ah or 90ah units have a stud and loop terminal connection so wouldn't be as simple to fit...90's are also rarer and a little more expensive.
So...as long as you haven't got some massive 1000watt amp draining your battery dry whilst running, the 65ah Bosch unit would be my choice (early push on block terminal type)

Re: Alternator upgrade question!!
Hi there,
Thanks for the advice
I've ordered a late 65a from brickwerks, there doesn't seem to be many bosch specific ones for sale mainly Hella, I don't mind putting new terminals on any way as ive come equipped
seeing as what they are like for dodgy wiring and believe me someone has been there on my one gonna rip the camper wiring out and start again, I reckon if I sleep in there right now id get abducted by all the wiring hanging out of various places lol, cant wait for the spring

Thanks for the advice

I think in this case Hella are the re-conditioners, not the OEM manufacturer...in other words, they take Bosch, Magneti Marelli, Lucas, AC Delco and other used alternators then they re-manufacture them (recondition and in Hella's case, to a very hight standard) You can tell I'm a fan.
If you had of ordered a 'Hella' reconditioned unit, likelihood is that it would have been a Bosch.

Re: Alternator upgrade question!!
oh ok didn't look lol , the old unit maybe a cheap one or something I searched for iskra and they do make alternators and other stuff, the new one turned up today and it has the replicable brush pack
, my old one also is different in the fact it has a big black cover surrounding the rear of the alternator, I will have a look once off and see if its fixable just cant be bothered ive not had motor for long and its been neglected so going to replace whatever I can when I can afford it
