Fitting an alarm

Hi there, loads of vans recently were broken into around our area, they knew exactly what to do, removed sliding door window (luckily placed carefully under van) by cutting the front of the seal off.

So as a knee jerk reaction I went and bought a Cat 1 Thatcham Alarm/Immobiliser off Ebay.

Upon receiving I see the insurance cert needs to be filled out by a registered Thatchams installer - didn't tell you that in the item description

Anyway I'm going to install myself as it seams pretty simple. Anybody done this before and if so where did you think was the best place to put the alarm unit? The installation instructions say preferably somewhere where interior body work would need to be removed, I've read the dash removal refitting is a weekend job so was hoping for some insight into a slightly easier but still inaccessible location near the dash/ignition/relay/fuse loom. Or am I kidding myself and should accept it is behind the dash somewhere?

As people are regularly reminded this is not a topic for discussion on here, just like tracker installation, for obvious reasons. You need to install it where it is not going to be easy to disconnect. Nobody sensible will tell you where there's is installed. It's a security thing!

When a sparky fitted V's the fuse box was behind the glove box if I remember correctly.

up behind the glove box / fuse board.

you can make brackets so its out the way and things need unbolting to access, long enough delay to get a response I think
