any advice please van keeps cutting out

On Sunday giving the van a drive out, on way home it cut out ,tried to restart wouldn't left it couple of minutes,then it started,further up road cut out again,then wouldn't start, topped up petrol as was a bit low and thought the gauge may be out, it started but i left off the petrol cap so turned off, then it would start, called AA, its starts but the revs' just die out, they towed me to a local garage, suspected fuel pump, garage changed pump along with pipes, they said the fuel was coming out the injectors (if i have that right, sorry not much knowledge of this) and checked all electrics but no joy, may have to take to vw main dealer?

any advice gratefully appreciated

Forget main dealers they probably won't know what a t25 is

No experience of the 2.1 dj myself but I think there is a thermoswitch which acts like a choke if it fails it overfuels

Anyway somebody will be along shortly to say I'm talking 80110&5

Thanks for the advice, will let local garage know, instead of taking it to the main dealers yet, may be someone in Bristol area will let me know of a good garage to go to if needs be.

what engine is it
You talk of injection and petrol which implies 2.1 dj but your garage says dg which has a carb?

Sorry its actually DJ,could only see option of dg when i originally set up garage info. And was told when purchased it was 1.9 but upgraded to 2.1, but never investigated this

Having similar problems with a carb version - and hoping that the current refurb that I am having will cure it as the garage are taking a look at the carb once the bodywork is sorted.

And here is the kicker. I trust the garage and its near Bristol. Check out VDubresto (Mark Smith). He may well be able to guide you.

If it's a DJ running fuel injection then I'd be checking temp2 sender and then TCi unit, then fuel pump and solenoid, if it's running carb then TCi unit and fuel pump and fitting a new fuel filter (£2)

sounds like fuel starvation to me. running the tank low could have blocked the fuel filter or hose with "pooh"!?

Wish it was garage have changed the filter and hoses, with no luck, thanks for your advice

Yes the first garage the aa took me to changed the fuel pump, didn't work so gave up on it, i towed it to the garage i where i have it serviced, they fitted another pump, and it worked, van still in garage having oil leak fixed so hopefully will have back soon, then will take faulty pump back to first garage and see what they say.

Glad it seems to have been sorted.

Mines coming on a treat. Final version hits the road on Saturday.

Looking at Oktoberfest certainly this year and yet to decide on others (though well up for it). Will look out for the van. Cheers mate
