Hi J, the clip-on relay holder is 161 937 501 B, around a fiver from VW or ?? from your local scrapper, most 80/90's VAG cars have one or two fitted somewhere. Plus 4 spade terminals and a foot or so of stranded wire. The 292 relay I got from a Polo or Caddy already had the holder, as that's how it was fitted.

No criticism was implied about any other posts in this thread (though TBH some are downright misleading), personally I just like things to work as they're supposed to, and wanted to share that info, in case anyone else found it useful.

Sure, everyone's got an opinion.. but not everybody's got a copy of the VW factory wiring diagrams. When it comes to technical matters I prefer *facts* to opinions.

actually the 99 /292 relay method outlined on the wiki for post 86 vans is by far the neatest solution.
So are the 19 and 99 relays interchangeable just unplug one and fit the other as I would quite like to have the lights on buzzer mod but my van has the 19 relay.

yes , same relay , same pins , same fit
just the 99 does a little bit more than a 19

try it with the 19 , like I said I have had it work with a 19 , but not very much but seems always works with a 99
