did vw ever make a 2.4, 5 cylinder diesel, non turbo engine for the t4?

I think so, maybe engine code AAB,


VW engine codes, look down to Transporter, but doesn't say TD or 5 cyl..

think it was used in some of the early Lt's and wasn't a very long lived engine

never used in LT'S,they had 2.4 6 cylinder Diesels never a 5 cylinder,cj.
bought some real off roaders!!!!!!!

Whatever the cylinder count, AABs break their timing belts and thus the engines and cylinder heads are in short supply at breakers. Think they're OK~acceptable when they're going and well maintained though.

There slow, un reliable as above, slow, a pain in the a*** to work on, use more oil than diesel when they have done alot of miles, and slower than a t25 with a DF engine.

The 2.5 tdi is the one to go for.
