2.0 cu solex twin carb auto choke set up help

Post by davethebus »

As per the title really, been having a few running issues and after replacing a knackered dizzy, setting static timing and adjusting a few things I got it started by manually setting the auto chokes to open and it ran a treat.
I suspect these have never been right as they have been a bit hit and miss in the past.

Any advice on setting them up correctly would be highly appreciated :ok

I will take some photo's tomorrow.

Not much help without pics I know but it wouldn't run without half throttle then I opened the choke a little by loosening the units and turning them slightly. It was never that good at starting when cold but after I did this it struck up straight away.
Just wondering in what position the thermal unit should be positioned.
Had a look at your oops thread and You seem to be using a similar set up to me including the dizzy.

E D I T... Thanks for the picture, I'll set mine similar tomorrow and let you know how I get on. :ok

Set the choke units up by a guide I found on google and all is well again.

It's great to actually be able to drive it again :ok

Hi,
Im planning on setting up my carbs to factory specs, as per Ooops tomorrow. Then attach them and exhaust etc. And possibly get it started depending on how much time i have.

I look forward to the next videos.
