Tappet check and adjustment 'should be' and was part of EVERY main service.....cork gasket with two rubber end seals plus about half an hour...and that's being generous. A few shims (if it's not been done for ages a few will have closed up) but for someone who is doing this adjustment regularly, these are exchanged rather than new.
I have called that place 3 times and left message but had no reply .
Martin i have spoken to a few garages and no one has the tools to do the job or they thought they were hydrolic tappets and do not need done.
Or if i got the special tool they would do them
also they said they would have to order loads of shims to get the right gap ?
They had a couple of bays in there, so I would imagine they are familiar.
Hi Mike
called them today and they have the tool and seem to know what there talking about.
2 hour job at £48 plus vat and whatever the shims cost...
I think i will be getting it done here next month

What the blithering heck OK...I'll set up a rival business and charge £50.00 .....you supply the gasket. roll up roll up......
2 hours...how ridiculous. I used to do these in 20 minutes, admittedly on regularly serviced engines and when I was doing 1 - 2 a day, but even so, if you had to change all eight and mess about with several shims sizes I can't imagine it taking any longer than 40 minutes. Rob dogs.... I think they are just cashing in on the fact that there are not many people who have the tools & shims so they are naming their own price!.
