Hi, I need some help identifying a part needed for my 1989 panel van.
I have spoken to the garage where it is current getting an MOT and it appears a bar of some sort has snapped under the front of the vehicle and fallen off. Unfortunately I have not had chance to go and look at the part, so I am describing below what a friend at the garage said:
- I am told this is not the anti roll bar or the drop link
- It is not something that has a near side of off side status as there are only one of the vehicle
- It is 12-14 inch apx in length
- It could possibly be a stabiliser bar?
- The part is no longer stocked by VW or many part suppliers
- He may have said it connected to the bottom of the front wish bone, but i'm not 100% about that.
However I can't find any stabiliser bar for sale for a t25 on JKs or ebay.
From the above bullets does anyone know what part it is that I might need and/or where I could get one from?
Cheers,
Andy

Anti roll bar drop links do indeed snap on these vehicles..certainly sounds like this is your issue.

BandB do them. I just bought a pair - made better sense than trying to replace bits on an old rusty one. Under £50 per side with everything included. It was also about £50 difference compared to buying just bushes and washers but way easier to deal with in the end.

A lot of obsolete parts appear once VW cease stocking them. Good thing too. I don't like all my eggs being in one basket when it comes to parts.

Radius rod? But longer than 12" or so, though.

if they have asked vw, surely they will know the name of it?.. how else did they ask them otherwise?

Is there _anything_ (steering apart) that's assymetric about the front suspension, though?lloydy wrote:two of them though....
If this one side's "snapped and fallen off", who's to say the other hadn't already...?
