T25 WBX Mini Resto

Post by PeeSG »

Hi all,

This was my van when i bought it. solid as a rock but roller painted by an amateur who obviously bought the wrong paint and didnt take the windows out. The black primer they used was a 1pac but the top coat/lashing was a synthetic paint probably house paint.

Image

Was a non runner, but sorted that within about 10mins after temporarily changing a section of badly perished fuel pipe and putting a new battery in.

Image

changed a pushrod tube for a telescopic. no idea how it got crushed like this. The PO hid the damage with a piece of ineer tube and a couple of jubilee clips. Though i suppose this was a good enough remedy at the time.

Image

Paint literally came off in your hand. i reckon if you drove it fast enough, it would have shed its skin and you would leave a T25 shaped paint shell skidding behind you.

Minor holes in a couple of the arches but the rest were solid. i was well pleased when i looked at it before we bought. Although the paint removal situation has dulled that happiness somewhat... However i did like the fact that the arches were in OG paint, so that gave me a thought to look for a paint code which i found.

Drivers door was solid for the most part, slight re skin at the bottom of the dogleg area but nothing too technical

Image

Made a dash tidy one day, with some spare time just to see if it would look any good.

Image

Some sill work to do and a pic of what was holding it together...

Image

Cargo floor mint. lovely to see.

Image

New seats in

Image

Brake overhaul all corners

Image
Image

New wheels, the old steels were looking a bit worse for wear so i will get them off and refurb later.

Image

Have no idea how to get the ariel out, the nut is way up in behind the dash and i cant get at it. Might have to cut it out and relocate. This is where the water got through and caused the rot which needed cutting out in the next flic.

Image

Image

Got offered a new door for £100 completely dry but thought i would have a go at fixing the old one. What have i got to lose except time?

Thats all for now.

Cheers all.

Fiddled with the carb a bit today, under suggestion from a friend on what to do. Also need to fit new backbox which i have ready. Had twin empi on there, not the greatest idea so going back to stock.

Old one off - proper rusty. Not good steel at all. Was probably never stripped and VHT painted as recommended with this product.

One side sanded down now. Can see OG colours. No idea why you would paint over that, theres only a couple of repairs that would have needed doing properly and a blow in. Oh well PO's like to dabble.

Sliding door finished outer and inner skin replacement on lower part.

More sanding done, almost complete except for tailgate, and reveals and a few other little niggly bits.

Fuel lines replaced along with refurbed starter motor

Does anyone know what this pipe is for? in the engine bay?

Image

Also i need an air inlet boot, the flexi rubber connection between air box and carb - can anyone point me in the right direction? I can find injection models but not wbx 1.9

Pipe is the vacuum from the inlet manufold to the brake servo behind the dash

Flexi pipe stick an ad in the wanted or wait for the next breaker van to come up
