84 t25 fusebox diagram

Post by newkid »

Hi Everyone, first post and hoping someone can help me out here. My mother has a 84 german left hand drive t25, Ive replaced quite a few parts on it in the year shes had it, from timing belts, water pump, alternator, water pipes for the stainless ones. Recently replaced the heater blower motor as it kept blowing the number 10 fuse. Now the blower is intermittent as the fusebox connector and holding point was burnt quite badly. Just ordered a new fusebox from justkampers but in need of a wiring diagram for the back of the fusebox as I stupidily removed all the wires from it and forgot to mark were each one went. Hoping someone can help as id like my mum to be able to actually use the van this year as shes getting a little upset as shes never been able to use it yet.

Thanks.

Which fusebox do you have, early (bullet style fuses) or late (blade type fuses)? I can't even see any replacement fuseboxed on Just Kampers. Also, the blower motor isn't on fuse 10 according to my Haynes Manual(s) :?

and welcome to 80-90 too.

84 should be early type fuses.

Hiya

its the early bullet type fuses.

This is the link to the one ordered from justkampers, its says its for a beetle but thats the exact part number from the one I removed hence the reason this one was ordered. http://www.justkampers.com/111-937-505- ... -pole.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

This is what I used to find out fuse 10 was for the blower http://www.westfaliat3.info/1983_VW_T25 ... iaT3WM.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; page 58

Thanks for the welcome :)

Look at the fusebox you will see that fuses 1-2, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9, 11-12 are bridged that is the input side.
Use this diagram fuse 1 is at the top.

Ive looked at the fusebox I removed as we are waiting on the new one coming and this is the results, 3-4, 5-6, 8-9, 11-12 are bridged, 1 and 2 are seperate. Unfortunatly im not very good at reading wiring diagrams so any pointers on how to decipher one would be appreciated.

That's because is a Bay/Beetle fuse box then. Just put a link wire from the input of fuse 1 to fuse 2.
Busy at the moment I'll explain it tonight.

Finally received the replacement fusebox and made a start on this today, fuses 1 to 6 I have managed no problem at all, can I check a few things on the rest as im a little lost.

Fuse 7, there is no link cable from either the battery or ignition switch wires, I also cant see a single red wire for the radiator fan but there is a double joined red/white wire one comes from the bulkhead area the other goes the silver relay to the left of the main fusebox.

Fuse 9

There is no red wire coming from the light switch, I do have a yellow/red wire with a link wire in red.

Unsure what to do with these wires but any help would be appreciated.

There are three different radiator fan versions.
1 without a relay which is wired through fuse seven.
2 with a relay also wired through fuse seven.
3 with a relay but just connected to the input side of fuse eight or nine with a seperate fuse near to the silver relay on the A post.
Looks like you may have version 3 or see below.

1985 changed to a red/white cable to the the light switch. That's probably the red yellow cable and is discoloured. Are you sure the red link wire doesn't go to fuse seven

Im not the best at explaining things and unfortunately im more mechanically minded but ill list what I have done so far and what wires are left over, hopefully you can help me finish them off. As above 1 to 6 are 100% finished, I've marked the ones I've managed so far with done next to them.

fuse 7 16A
input
link cable from fuse 8 input
output
red, radiator fan

fuse 8 8A
input
red, from battery done
red, to ignition switch done
output
red, interior lights done
red/yellow, brake lights done

fuse 9 16A
input
red, to light switch
red, to dipswitch
red, to relief relay
output
red/white, hazard warning lamps done

fuse 10 16A
input
black/yellow, from relief relay
black/yellow, link wire to auxiliary fuse 13
output
black/grey, wiper motor done
black grey, wiper motor done
black/white, to heated rear window switch if fitted. no rear window heater

Fuse 11 8A
input
black, to ignition coil done
output
black/blue, to indicators.

fuse 12 8A
input
black, from ignition switch done
output
black/blue, to reverse lamps
black/yellow to horn done

auxilary fuse 13 16A
input
link from fuse 10
output
black/red, heater fan

wires that I have not connected are as follows

yellow/red with a red loop
black to handbrake cable light
a looped double earth from the crowns (believe this was from the indicator relay and the other relay in the fusebox, still to do this but unsure which goes were)
white
blue/black
red/black
blue/red combined to a black/white with green dots
double red/white (one to bulkhead and other to the relay at side of fusebox)
black/yellow

2 lose wires also, be from the fusebox to the relays but again im lost

single red
single black/yellow

I know some of the wires will be for the 3 pin indicator relay and the 4 pin silver relay, thinks its the starter relay? on the fusebox, leaving few wires to still be done on the actual fusebox but again im unsure how to wire up the relays.

Would be appreciated if you can help me with the wires left and I do thank you for all your help so far.

Yellow/Red should be for the coolant temperature sender which goes to the coolant sensor relay terminal G17

Black from the handbrake switch to output of fuse 11 or 12.

Looped earth goes to the indicator relay in relay position 1 terminal 31, and relief relay in relay position 3 terminal 85.

White if it is a thin wire goes to terminal 49 of the indicator relay

Blue/red and black/white green dots goes to terminal 49a of the indicator relay

Blue/black? is for the oil light shouldn't be connected to the fuse box goes through a multi plug behind the fuse box.

Black yellow probably to the relief relay if you connected all the other black yellow wires.

Red/white output of fuse 9.

Red? Realy need to see a picture of the wiring now.

You didn't need to disconnect the relay wires, the fusebox just needed to be separated from the relay carrier and the wires disconnected from the fusebox only.

sorry its black/blue, believe its either indicators or reverse lights?
the red wire by the plan I followed to start if im reading correct will be from input fuse 9 to relief relay?

bigherb wrote:Yellow/Red should be for the coolant temperature sender which goes to the coolant sensor relay terminal G17

This is the one with the red loop and Ive labelled it wrong to, its red/yellow with the red loop. Also reread your earlier post so this should be input fuse 9, looped to input fuse 7?

You didn't need to disconnect the relay wires, the fusebox just needed to be separated from the relay carrier and the wires disconnected from the fusebox only.

The fusebox we ordered was the fusebox and relay carrier all in one, there was no way to separate it unfortunately.

Huge thanks again, I'm almost there due to your help.

yellow/red with a red loop (you were correct, input 9 looped to 7)
black to handbrake cable light (now connected)
a looped double earth (indicator relay one done still have other to connect)
white (connected as advised, indicators working spot on)
blue/black (indicators, output 11)
red/black (was black/red, connected to output 10 for blower heater)
blue/red combined to a black/white with green dots (connected as advised, indicators working spot on)

Only wiring I now have is as follows

double red/white (one through bulkhead, other to relay at crowns) is this the radiator fan wire?

black/yellow (sure this is from the blower switch)
earth for relay from the double looped one
red wire from input 9 as advised to relay
black/yellow from input 10 as advised to relay

Are you able to help with the relay positions for the above and on the double red.

Thank you.
