Fridge not working

Post by madangus »

Hi all, not posted for ages but a problem has cropped up. I have a 1988 vw westfalia, I have found a problem with my fridge. Last camping trip the fridge was working on the 12v , element nice and cold but when we hooked up to 240 at the campsite the fridge wouldn't work. If anyone can help it would be appreciated, all the other electrics worked fine ie the sockets so we knew the hook up was working just the fridge.

I'm not very technical but I love my van and am willing to learn so I someone out there could explain what I need to do I would really appreciate it :ok

BIg thanks

It could be a switch fault when switching over from the 12V button to the hook up one.

As said ^^^^^^^ the mechanical push button mechanism could be sticking....easy to strip and lubricate but more likely the 230volt element is fubar.....they are still available new.
