Actually I was going to add that caveat but didn't bother based on my thinking nobody would be running anything that heavy. As I've often mentioned in other threads, pulling any appreciable load from an inverter requires the 12v cables supplying it to be impracticably large. The 4.5A @240v mentioned is a whopping 84A @12v; I have a 90A alternator and even if I had ran cables big enough I wouldn't ask that of it.
I use an 800W 230v microwave in my Merc - the inverter leads are short with the longer ones being the 230v but always run the engine at the same time. (220Ah of batteries though)
