Hello,
25 mpg is very very very good....
How is the engine set up.. Hall ignition..
What grade of fuel are you using..
What size tyres..
Photos of engine layout will help..
Aircooled bliss...

Hi
I'm a 3 speed automatic 2.1 (after a rebuild) with a CSP python exhaust running standard carbs and ignition and tyres.
Powering my very heavy Karmann Gipsy to cruise at 56mph and 22mpg. Will do about 65mph.

Re: 2.0 AC speed?
My van is as VW intended. Foot to the floor on a flat stretch of the A38 and the speedo reads just shy of 80mph (GPS reading 72mph). It's been faster downhill but the brakes & the vague steering keep me from actually seeing what it would top out at. I normally keep the speed to 60-65mpg on the speedo and I'm lucky if the mpg gets to 20mpg. The van is a high-top and it's always fully loaded with camping gear so the low mpg isn't too surprising.
2ltr Aircooled CU with twin Solex's & originally a 009 dizzie, but now back to standard.

25mpg!..................that sound good. I would be very happy with that. We manage 20mpg ish with a 2.0 CU air cooled Devon pop top and an auto box driving it very carefully, but on a good day it will do 70mph or a little bit more (sat nav speed) not that you want to maintain that speed and if I find a hill well
