Re: JX Won't start
OG's looking at rear of pump are as follows
2 oclock no1
10 oclock no3
8 oclock no4
4 oclock no2
ie 1342
joker yours are
no 1 + 3 correct
but at
8 oclock you have no 2
and at
4 oclock you have no 4
so assuming no 1 is correct then you need to swop 2 + 4
is this anything to do with the pump i sent you or is this another issue

Re: JX Won't start
Hi mate, looks like that's the issue.
So MM, looks like your pump may not have been faulty after all!! I do still have it, so if you want to give me your address i'll ship it back to you (no point in you losing out on my mechanics balls-up). Sorry about that, but I was unaware
I really appreciate all the help that you guys have given on here!
1 and 3 were definitely right. I've just gone and swapped 2 and 4 and she seems fine now! I took her for a run and there was no knocking, next to no smoke and a decent amount of power! I'm going to need to adjust the timing a bit further, but it looks like its sorted!
Well, as long as she starts in the morning! I'll still be getting a new set of pipes, but if that is it then I'll be well chuffed - especially as this has been bothering me for about 2 months!

Re: JX Won't start
I can't believe that a mechanic bent the pipes, I would expect him /her to know better than that!
Make sure that you put the anti-vibration clamps on also - the main one on my pic is missing as I hadn't finished there at that point. You can see the two that clamp two pipes together - the missing one clamps all 4 together in the middle of the red "circle" You can see them on the ebay pic though.

And just for clarity that wasn't me by the way, all it came in to us for was a timing check, and it ran out of here perfectly as i'm sure Leigh will tell you, I did tell him about pipes and last I heard you were going to buy some of Baxters.

Re: JX Won't start
Yep, definitely wasn't steve that did the pipes thing - that was a local mechanic to me (sorry steve I should have clarified that earlier)
Steve did my timing for me - that was all

Re: JX Won't start
A long shot but when you removed the inlet and return pipes on the pump did you get the right banjo's on? The one on the return has a very small hole and not the same as the on the inlet, when my pump was off the mechanic put the wrong one on the return and it caused lots of problems, I hope that made sense?

Re: JX Won't start
I'll try it although I don't think the banjo's were touched - I've got up this morning to fire her up and nothing
No matter what I do she won't start - previously I could retard the timing and it'd go, but nothing this time.
Could it be internally fractured injector pipes? If so would I see any leaking anywhere?

Re: JX Won't start
It is the bolt that goes into the banjo that has the hole in it and the one on the return should be very small.

Re: JX Won't start
Banjos look ok. I'm thinking non-visible fracture in the injector pipes.
