Securing the exhaust properly!

So as the subject suggests, that was this mornings activity!
The other day I was sitting at the lights and I could hear a horrible rattle from the rear. When I got home I checked, and found that the rear silencer was held on by this ( sorry I'd already removed the part before thinking about sticking it on the forum)
It was a very bad designed bracket and it coursed the back box to sit against the heat shield, and rattle it self to death nearly! By the time I got to it, it was barely attached. Anyway I ordered the parts I needed from brickwerks, which turned up next day! Awesome! And I've fitted them today. Problem solved, no rattles and the exhaust seems quiter! Winner!

Thats not a standard silencer though

No it's not, to be honest I haven't got a clue what it's from, but it definitely works better on the saddles I got from brickwerks. I'll have to invest in an original silencer when I've put some more hours in at work

Aye, and you ain't supposed to have them big gaps between bracket and silencer, how is the silencer actually fastened now ? (because those new brackets don't look like they are doing much )

They have straps over the top and are holding the silencer just fine. No movement no rattles. I'm just making good with what was already on the van, I know it's not right, but I can't afford a back box right now. Just thought if share what I'd done yesterday. Thanks for your input guys

By the look of the exit pipe its a bike can (Kawasaki/Suzuki/Honda whatever). Nowt wrong with that - sure cheaper than the stock one. You could make the space up I suppose. Mine is supported with a heavy duty bungee from a mount on the can to the engine and that works fine.

I never even thought that it could be a bike can! Haha the original hangers seem to be working though so all is good for now haha
