Coolant leak.

Post by B.J »

Hi,
I've got a leak coming from the braided pipe leading off the dalek cap. Does anyone know what type and size this hose is and what's the best sort of clips to use to attach it i.e o/ear clip, jubilee or spring clamps?

Thanks.

Hi there , that part of the system is not pressurised, so you can use almost any correct size diameter tube. i think it's 5 or 7 millimetre inside diameter same for the clips just as long as it doesn't leak. Braided fuel hose would work too.

I'm assuming you mean the pipe that goes from the spout on the dalek cap to the expansion tank behind the number plate?

Yes, that's the one. I shall find some generic hose then. Thanks. :ok

I used 8mm coolant hose from brikwerks with screw jubilee clips.

Thanks for the links. So, I got hold of everything I needed and replaced the hose without losing too much coolant. The header tank (with the dalek cap?) is not full though. It's just below the neck and I'm guessing there's air in the new hose.
Do I fill from the header or the tank in the flap?

Thanks.

Top the main tank to the neck then fit the cap & hose, so long as the top-up tank's on the 'max' line it should self-fill.
