Hi Guys.
Ok im thinking of a little bit of a lift on the rear end of my t25 autosleeper, just around 15-20mm as i feel when laden it sits just that bit low on the back.
Ive seen jed the spreads youtube vid on a lift with spacers which looks great. i just wanted to know if anyone had fitted coil spring assisters before. and do they lift the bus or just stop them maxing out.im just looking at all options Cheers

I have been using some of the coil assisters on my van over the last couple of years. They dont really lift the van they just stop it from getting lower with weight onboard. I took them off when I fitted gas shocks but put them right back on again as the ride was so much nicer with them on. I am in Morocco at the moment in the van and have just put the van through a few hundred miles of the most aggressive roads I have ever driven fully loaded with a weeks worth of fuel, water and food and they work well. I have them on the front too.

As Jed says they don't actually 'lift' the van but prevent the spring compressing fully so therefore reduce the amount of 'sag' by one coil.

Are your springs shagged then or is your van particularly heavy?

I used to use a set on the front of my van when I had some cheap crappy lowered springs on because the tyres would rub on the top of the arches over bumps.

With standard springs on I would have thought your van would be ok without them.

You could always look at the 'levelling shims' Baxter does if you wanted to raise the ride height of your van or make some spacers out of those white chopping boards you can get and place them under the springs.

thanks for all the info guys. all good, so maybe i will put in spacers then some assisters. are my springs knackered ?? well not really sure, maybe just me being fickle about things. i was just thinking heavy rear engine d autosleeper. il let you know how it works out for me.

Remember, it was converted from a rear engined van, so it's designed to have plenty of weight in the back. Almost certainly the rear springs are knackered, unless they've been replaced over the years. We snapped the pigtail off a rear spring on our Westy, so replaced the pair with spankin' new. The back end is MUCH higher than it was before.

That is a fair point Adrian. hum lots of food for thought now. and the conundrum deepens !! maybe it would be a betterer practice to change all the springs as piece of mind. Then i could always chuck a spacer in later. is there any way to test them and find out if there fecked or not ?

up date!
i put coil spring assisters in and everything seems to look level. the big thing ive noticed is the ride IS so much better, happy boy today, old 1600 propex out with the side outlet welded up. tomorrow new fiamma awning on and new propex hs200 in with out and inlets out the floor. on wed we get the new widow rubbers. i think its safe to say ive got the bug, maybe even the man few version !!! thanks again for all your advice.
