Hi Guys
I have a 1.6TD JX - what is the likely belt set-up? I have absolutely no idea what the belt arrangement should look like - does anyone have a diagram pls?
Thx in advance

Re: Alternator Belt Help!
Hi, I can only tell you how the belts are on my jx, spent yesterday afternoon replacing them. I have a double pulley on my crankshaft although the inside pulley is not used, I guess its for power steering if fitted. The outer pulley is for the belt that operates the waterpump double pulley.
The pulley on the waterpump is also a double pulley. The inner pulley is used by the belt that powers the alternator above and tension is adjusted in the usual manner by undoing the alternator mounting bolts a little and swing the alternator body out until the belt is tensioned. The outer pulley on the waterpump is composed of two halves. The two dished plates that are normally welded together to produce a standard pulley wheel are separate. Provided with the detachable pulley are four shims, the required number of shims needed to be fitted between the pulley dished plates are fitted to allow for the belt to be tensioned. Yesterday my pulleys needed one shim between the pulley plates to provide the correct tension on the belt. The three remaining shims are simply used as washers when mounting the pulley hub retaining bolts.
I suspect that my auxiliary belts were a little too long as I needed the full range of adjustment on the alternator.
Sorry its so long winded, its quite straight forward if you have the system in front of you. I will be back to my van on Monday so I can post or send you some pictures then.
