brake light switch

Post by jeffdub »

Got to work this morning and was told I had no brake lights , changed the bulbs , still no brake lights , I looked behind the clocks, found the connector shorted it and they worked ! my problem is there looks to be 2 switch thingys one off the side of the master and one at the wheel end of the master do I have to change both and can I get them from brickwerks ? Had a quick look and couldn't see any. thanks jeff

Some have two switches working in tandem. you only need to replace one to get the lights working but obviously better to replace them both. VW dealers still supply original two pin switches part number 113 945 515H if you have a dealer close then it usually works out the same price as paying postal charges. And there are a lot of crap pattern part ones out there.

I only replaced 1 when I did it that might be why it is not working again, let us know how you get on fitting 2 please.

I would have thought you would have noticed how many pins it had.

I was a bit surprised when you said £20 I only paid £11.35 each for the last lot a couple of years ago.

I think maybe vw were taking the p**s , it did seem steep after checking the prices elsewhere , especially as we order thousands of pounds worth of parts off them every year , makes you wonder how much over the odds we pay for panels from them for insursance repairs
