Lost my lights.. Smell hot battery
A good while ago I followed Mr AXEMAN's headlamp upgrade with great success .. But tonight while sitting at idle my belt started to squeal ( muggy so thought nothing of it), pulled away and both lamps went out followed by the smell of charging battery.. Then noticed my voltmeter was off the scale 16v and some! Van is DJ 2.1... It's wet dark and raining sonot going to look tonight.... Any pointers PLEASE GUYS/GALS????

No electrical expert, but i'd swap in a known good alternator and check again

Sounds like the voltage regulator in the alternator has gone, as said new alternator is needed, hopefully the battery won't be damaged due to it being over charged. How long before you turned the engine off?
