steering wheel cover
Every winter , when the damp weather sets in , my steering wheel gets all sticky until the temperature reaches normal in the cabin - it's the original steering wheel ( 1989 2.1 ) . Is there somewhere I can buy a cover that fits ( preferably red ) - all ones advertised are too small and I want to keep the van as close to original as I can.
Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction

I've used all types of cleaner without much effect - we've a red interior theme - red seat covers ,curtains etc so thought a red steering wheel cover would fit in without looking chavvy

Plenty of leather on ebay - doesn't take long to knock one up. Only a dozen stitches needed for the ends and a hole punch for the lacing (which you can make from the same leather).

Re: steering wheel cover
Nice sew-on leather ones were on sale via eBay at about £18 quid. Mine was black, I dont know if other colours were available though. Looks and feels good though and better than shagged out plastic.

I baby wiped mine. It was b awful. I got black streaks on my belly for ages and it made it even stickier. I ended up just warm soapy water and rags to wipe it down.

Re: steering wheel cover
I had the same issue so I stitched on a black leather cover. It looks great and feels really nice. Was quite tricky as I'm a novice stitcher but very happy with it. Been on there a couple of years.

I also fitted a 4 speed golf leather gear stick knob to finish it of. Both look and feel nice to use.
Think I'm getting a leather fetish...

Re: steering wheel cover
I asked one of the sellers on eBay if they did one for a T3 they asked for diameter of wheel and grip and produced one that fits very well, I stitched it on and it's been on a few years now and very happy.

I could get you one done in hide by a rolls Royce factory trained trimmer(when there was craftsmen in there), think it was a 8hr job in the 70s to do one, they .Not cheap but quality .

I think it was years of accumulated dirt n sweat. It was solid before I baby wiped it but that just made it sticky and no matter how hard I rubbed I couldnt get the sticky stuff off. Result every time I drove it after becuase Im a short a*** and the wheel is just about touching my belly I got black streaks.
Oldbut goodie I have phrased this very carefully so hopefully I will NOT be going back into the out of context thread.
