Ways to keep a Poptop roof closed?
Hello,
My name's Mike and I'm in Hampshire. I'm relatively new on here and I just gone and bought a T3 with a poptop roof and it has those ridiculous straps holding it closed.
Can people advise on alternative methods of keeping the roof securely closed because I'm not convinced that this is a particularly good solution, though it did stay shut for my maiden 150 mile drive home.
I found it a real pain pulling them tight after closing it tonight once the kids had had a look.
Any advice will be appreciated.
Thanks.

I don't have time to get a photo at the moment because I have to go out, but it is a little bit like this which I have find on the internet:

I think this is a priority to sort out.

I have them on mine. The PIC is upside down if fitted correct you just pull down and it tightens.
Fixed at base up and through top and back down the catch.

I thought you meant a strap over the roof

No Lloydy the pop top I bought was a new kit on eBay you fit yourself. Mine came with the straps on upside down took me a wile to work out how it could be improved.

nicq, are you happy with that fixing?
I'm not keen on this so will have a look at other options and hopefully there are peeps on this forum with different fixing methods on their roofs that can be retro fitted on my roof.

I have 4 1 in each corner of a small pop top similar to a remo. Never had a problem in 3 years.

Re: Ways to keep a Poptop roof closed?
The roof in question is an "O'Connors Camper Westy Style" roof.
Justkampers do a couple of toggles:
JK Part Number: J10950

JK Part Number: J13144 OEM Part Number: 231-068-013/A

Are there any other options?

JK do the toggles but you need to check whether they come with the part that the toggle latches onto. Gunzl do a complete toggle kit (check roof section). However they have a relative expensive but swift delivery service. So if you have a number of other bits and pieces you want, order them too to get best value from the transportation cost.
