Is cambelt failure likely to do the valves on a 1.6td t25, just out of interest.

Yep, just had an aaz in for breaking due to tensioner failure = 7 bent valves. Not good news I'm afraid.

Thanks for the replies, my belts just been changed so very annoying. Not sure which engine mine is cos it's a polo 1.6 td, luckily I've a mate with a diesel pick up that's being broken, just incase I need a new lump. Merry Christmas, blooming thing, still it's not the vans fault.

I wasn't aware that older VW Polo's were fitted with the 1.6TD ? Newer ones do have the 1.6TDI but the older shapes had the 1.9D Non Turbo in them: N/A indirect injection engines (normally aspirated).
