Swapping out glass wndows for double glazed ones

Post by Winchweight »

Hi guys,

I want to to swap our glass windows (side and rear) for double glazed ones. I have the windows, but I'm not sure if its an easy job to tackle myself. Anyone tried it?

It's pretty easy to do and best done with two pairs of hands.

I use plastic bicycle tyre levers to tuck the rubber seal under the lip from the inside until the window pushes out. And para cord to get the new ones in.

Parachute cord - basically a thin rope/ cord that will fit into the groove in the seal. See:

Just searching on eBay. Haven't found a source for new or refurbished ones yet.

Gunzl have all sizes and colours. Bought a new high top d/g window and seals for about £220 incl p&p. I searched the web for ages for cheaper but could only find them on German websites and Gunzl being the cheapest.
Worth a gander.

Yes, thank you very much, haven't had a gander yet, but not looking forward to it by the looks of the above comment.
