Alarms

Post by pwiffen »

Hi. Just about to take delivery of our new van and looking at getting an alarm fitted, looking at a budget of around £100 ( I am quite happy to fit it myself) and was wondering if anyone could recommend one and advise on also fitting central locking motors??

Cheers

Hello, good morning, welcome to club 80-90 :ok

We are pleased that you found us and pleased to make your acquaintance.

Don't forget that, like most forums, a quick post to say hello etc is customary and polite ;)

Now, to your question, most folk won't discuss alarms as they think it compromises the security measures they have on their vans. I would say look on Amazon rather than Ebay because you can read "reviews" on what folk thought of their purchase (a facility sadly lacking on Ebay). Note that most T25's don't have a door pin switch on the tailgate, so you might need to fit one if the alarm you buy is triggered by the door pins (as most are).

Re Central locking, I cannot tell you much about that, except to say that in my opinion it is a lot of faff and extra weight / complication for little end result.

Now go and do a "hello post" :wink:

Fitting central locking, both original VW and generic systems, is relatively straightforward.

Among some other security "devices" I have, as my main intruder / shock sensor alarm, I use one of these as listed on Ebay LINK HERE. It's cheap I know, but it has done what I want it to do for over 5 years, though I did have to replace the key fob thing when it fell apart last year.

I'm in the process of fitting this kit http://www.rclick.co.uk/product_info.ph ... ts_id=1130" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's pretty straight forward on you work out where to position the actuators. Make sure you can wind down the windows still before fitting! :oops:

This is where I fitted mine Image

I'm going to upgrade to this alarm system
