1980 Devon camper with metal worm!

Post by thegasman2000 »

We'll the story with my new baby is that I got her not running. A gamble that paid off as I manager to fire her up. A local garage did an inspection and the engine gearbox steering brakes and suspension are all good. As is the base chassis!
The issue is the bodywork, and I started grinding the rubbish out yesterday!
Here is the damage so far. One complete sill, both rear wheel arches front section and one rear section . Both floors and one gutter. Complete front wheel arch and step. The b pillar is actually ok

I'm not really a 'metal' person but I can tell you the metalwork under your front windscreen is shot too.

Well sills buttoned up. Now a problem.... I have a serious problem on the panel that sits behind the sliding door with the back window in it. The curved bit and the channel that the window seal sits in is foobarred... I cant seem to find the right panel to buy. Do i need to fab one?

I'm sure some will follow..... Seriously though, that's one rusty van. I'd almost feel like a necrophiliac if I was working on it.

Brave man

She was all i could afford. Bought with a decent interior and the bed is the only thing not shafted...

Will post up pics of the sill when i have ground them down and they look presentable. Learning to weld on this bad boy was probably a bad idea...
