unless it's been welded on then it's just rust resisting removal, plus gas and a pry bar should shift it

Cheers Aidan ill give it a try 
As I was trying to get it off yesterday (moving it around) it felt like I was dis-aliening the gears. Is there a good way to make sure i have the alignment of the gears right before I put on the new part?

with the Aircooled box the detent between the gear selector fork is taken care of by springs and plungers not adjustable
