Re: dg to df wiring conversion
Don't quite understand your question..... Df and dg are the same apart from the carb.
Two ignition switched live feeds and two temp switched live feeds to the dg carb

Ignition switched feed on my dg is to the bypass air cutoff valve and choke element these both wire to the coil black
Thermoswitched feeds are to the manufold heater and the part load duct heater, this is a red wire from the relay switched contacts in the black box
Be warned neither are fused and so your wiring needs to be good or add fuses
Hope you get it sorted

Obviously we can't see what you can, but if it is original, non molested, there shouldn't be any major differences other than the carb....
All the external bits,( zorst , alternator, water pump , pipes ) excluding the inlet manifold and carb are interchangeable across all wbx engines...

Take the ignition live from the coil as vw intended there should be a spare spade tag on the coil just piggy back from there
As I said make sure your wiring it tip top or add a fuse
Starter wiring is not suitable as its permanent live or only swiched on cranking
