Re: are df and dg heads the same
Not the same df valves are much smaller than dg
Tell us again what's wrong with your head I didn't understand, maybe it can be fixed
Have you tried the wanted section?

Re: are df and dg heads the same
you mean exhaust studs
You are better off drilling them out rather than changing the head
Taking the head off will be a whole load more pain
You can drill them out then retap the next size up if your drilling damages the m8 thread
You can get stepped studs

If you do drill them out don't go more than 25mm deep

Re: are df and dg heads the same
bit drastic to change the head for a snapped exhaust stud!
As said.. drill it out
25mm deep no more!

Re: are df and dg heads the same
Vw heratige also sell the rocker studs
If you are happy to buy a new head then you have nothing to loose drilling the old one
Drilling out metal studs should be done with a new drill bit and oil to keep the drill cool
The mistake most people make is to have the drill bit spinning to fast
It needs to he as slow as you can
If your electric or battery drill does not have adjustable speed then its no good
When the speed is right you wll get large shavings of swarf coming off
*none of this was cut and pasted frm google but the selling may not be great

Re: are df and dg heads the same
new head isnt really an option hence why we were asking about alternate head....
we would much rather get the broken studs out and put all back together..
my mate has other jobs needing doing for mot

As the head is off if you don't have the skills then take it to a local machine shop and get it done

Re: are df and dg heads the same
If he was any closer to Salisbury, or could get the head to me, I'd certainly have a result, either within an hour or...............after several attempts, much cursing and sheer determination. I do like these type of tasks.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?
