Cast I reckon...forged pistons are more robust but expand more meaning bore clearances have to be large...resulting in noise when cold...very few cars have forged pistons as standard.

So, the engine's in for it's rebore... And i've had delivered what i want to use as a chargecooler reservoir, It's a renault coolant reservoir. And it's a pretty good size, not too big

Connections are about 22-23mm (my pipes are 19mm) so a slight adaption needed there

Other than those small issues it looks like it will fit fine, hopefully to the left of the fuel filter and ps reservoir and give me a visible means of checking the water levels and make it much easier to fill

Looks useful...what diameter is the tank and how high in total? And is there a baffle of some sort inside to allow air to seperate?

It would be...maybe...i need one to go in the space next to the rad...and to be able to see the level though the grille would be perfect...even if it does mean using parts of French chav rubbish to do it!

As hinted at above i'm going down a different route with a tank up in the D pillar behind the vent. It wont be part of the circulation route, but a header tank. there is not really enough room to move the chargecooler down low (and a few other bits i wanted to move won't fit either, like battery), so that plastic tank won't be the highest point..
Header tank is the best option and will mean i can check and fill without lifting engine hatch, along with the modding of oil filler tube with a dipstick, should mean i rarely have to move all the bedding out.. especially with this nice new engine :D

But to answer your question, the bottom inch or so of that plastic tank, is seperated by a false floor with just a hole in the centre. Mike has the tank, so cant give you measurements. That tank is likely to be surplus to requirements....

is your chargecooler not higher than the rad then? must be if its in the space by rear light?

Nope...rad is higher just...but then the fill point it right at the top of the grille to allow air to escape from the system...only trouble is with the avt filler neck thing the bubbles jus whizz past the opening when the top is off and back round the system! Also no reserve of water in my system.

I'm not saying its any good like...your the plumber here!
