1.6 GTD

Post by pagey »

Hi

I'm a newbie! I'm looking for a T25 Westfalia, there's one advertised currently with a Golf Mk2 1.6 GTD. Any views on the suitability of this type of engine before i think about viewing/driving it? They appear to churn out 80bhp when new. Ive searched the fantastic wiki and on here but can't find any ref to this engine type anywhere.

Any assistance really appreciated! :D

cheers

Hi

its very suitable its what i have in mine

heres a nice glossy install

http://www.brick-yard.co.uk/forum/topic19160.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

mines not as sexy as that but works fine, its liked to a Dk 4 speed box and has an intercooler in the rear left light box area, cruiesed all day at 65-70 never skips a beat.

cheers

Technically a better engine due to the hydralic valve compensation..be surprised if the whole lot including the water cooled turbo and intercooler is fitted to your van but it might be...also the fuel pump is better than the T3 effort but might not fit under the lid without a few mods...

Whatever way it's been done it is a better engine than the JX but its not like night and day in comparison..don't expect a rocket ship!
