I have a real problem with the tyres on my van finding any grip on wet or even damp grass. At the moment I have stock wheels with Hero tyres but the tread pattern is just a zig-zag 4 groove pattern, seems quite basic. The tyres have loads of tread depth and have probably only done about 7k miles/on the van for 13mths
Just wandering if anybody could point me in the right direction of any tyres which would give better grip on wet grass or what kind of tread pattern I should be looking for.

Re: Tread Pattern
Hero tyres are part of the Federal tyre group
Based in china and manufactured there.
they ship their crap worldwide.
Claims of ISO standards and European legislation met tyres should be taken with a pinch of salt.
If you want grip fit a European tyre made in Europe or by a European Co.
Pirelli Goodyear Dunlop Michelin
I had pirelli P6 on my van for five enjoyable years..
As for grass driving, that's more ability than tyres.
low gear no throttle and gentle braking.

Re: Tread Pattern
cheers for that Kev. I was following the thread in the link, thats what prompted me to post more specifically about tread pattern, but hadn't caught up with the last few posts
Will check out some of the European brands or the Hankook ones Cruz uses. Certainly wouldn't recommend the Hero ones to anybody or Barnum ones for that matter, had these on Debs Sharan and the tyre walls were splitting within 12mths.
I usually have no problems driving on grass in my other vehicles just the van, even with low gear and little throttle the wheels want to spin, even a few worm casts clog the tread and turn them into slicks!

The biggest problem with our vans on soft and slippery surfaces is very high ground pressure from the ~50psi tyre pressures.

Re: Tread Pattern
Limited slip differential.....rare as hens teeth but fitted to some later 2WD 5sp gearboxes....or more aggressive 'Winter' tyres which have a softer compound that works better at lower temperatures as well as having a more suitable pattern for the slippy stuff. Wider tyres..although that wouldn't necessarily be the usual recommendation, the T25's issue is lots of weight on relatively narrow tyres and going for 205/70R14's definitely improved my 'on field' grip over standard 185's.
