Evening all,

I'm in the middle of removing decades if crud from my callipers, the amount of crust was incredible yet I was amazed that all bolts, nipples and unions were easy to undo - was not expecting that. One slider pin was set but when removed it could be seen that it was bone dry, a touch of grease and it's free again. Tomorrow, I'll tackle the rears and then I'd like to bleed the whole system as the current oil is black.

In the past, I've avoided pedal to the floor methods of bleeding because you run the risk of the master cylinder being pushed out way further than it has done in ages, thus, risking damaged seals. With all the valued experience on here, I was wondering if this occurs very often. Don't particularly want to messing about with the master cylinder if I can help it.

I can only say that if the inside of the master cylinder is so poor as to damage the seal whilst bleeding, then I would rather find out than to wait and have the brakes fail some other time that can then leave me bleeding.

That's not quite how it works because the piston never exits the pot as much as it does once all the components are assembled. Think about it, when did your pedal last touch the floor?
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

this might be stating the bleeding obvious............... :rollin .........but, don't push it past halfway

Irrelevant now as I've found the missing pieces for my vacuum bleeder. Best method by far but only if you're kit is complete!
