Wagner W670 for spraying bumpers etc?

Post by cubensis »

Hello all, I am looking to spray a few various parts, bumpers, wing mirrors and a rear boot hatch.

I was looking at the Wagner W670, I wouldn't try to paint a car with this but has anyone ever used one of these (or similar?) for spraying bumpers and the like?

And if so what was the paint your used and the paint / thinner ratio?

Any tips and/or advice would be great, cheers John.

I painted the bumpers on mine last year and used the roller with rustoleum. You would be hard pushed to tell the difference between that and spraying them. You also get a nice thick coat which on bumpers has gotta be worth it. Minimal mess and waste with the paint. I did it next to the washing , hung out to dry (wife doesn't errr didn't know)

I just used rattle cans of Satin Black, fine for small items such as those.

Ho, thanks for the replies. I was going to do the boot door as well, don't you think it'd be hard to get a good finish with rattle cans?

The main thing i'm wondering is in a HVLP system what paint would you use to spray a car? I've seen all sorts 2K, acrylic etc.

I'd be looking at getting something like this:

Not for things like bumpers, depends on how good you spray I suppose. Wouldn't do a large area like the tailgate though, I thought you just meant the pull down flap.

For bumpers I use a foam brush with hear resistant matt black paint from rustins. Looks good, no brush marks.
