Jx Injection pump query.

Post by rob1927 »

Morning all. Could any one advise me on the following?

I need to reconnect the pipes from my pump to the injectors on my JX but don't remember which fuel valves on the back of the pump feed which injector.

Also which is cylinder no. 1? Is it the crank pulley end or the flywheel end?

The pump is roughly covered in the Just Kampers manual but there are type errors and I don't have any faith in it.

Many thanks,

Rob.

They only go on one way, you can't get it wrong.

Cheers Simon, could you throw any light on the aux belts for the Jx? Previous owner nightmare! Are the alternator and water pump driven by the same belt from the crank pulley or are there two belts required?

Weird van this, it's got jetta bits every where.....

my van only has one belt running the alt+ water pump although the crank pully has grooves for two belts? been like this for 5 years and fine. i have seen pics of jx engines with 2 belts so not sure if its and early/late design change but the just left the pully the same or wether my van is not as it should be. anyways its worked fine for 5 yrs so ive just left as it is.

Cheers, it's a funny one I googled Jx engines and I came across both single and double belt configs. !

Is your water pump pulley wheel for one belt or will two go on it?

When I got the van the previous owner had put jetta bits everywhere, washers and spacers on the aux belt pulleys, also the crank pulley belt wheel had wiped out a load of the plastic timing belt cover!

Thanks again.

only one belt will go on my water pump, its just the crank pulley that has space for 2, which i only noticed when i change the belt once and put it in the wrong groove. i did also recenlty notice that my belt didnt run true(after about 5 yrs owning it lol) as the alternator was to far over to the back of the van, maybe by 1cm so i took out/swapped a couple of washers over to get it to aligh better. This is maybe why i went through so many belts in the past.
Im not sure if the 2 belt setup is for power steering??? as mine is an 89, so think around there they started to fit it on some vans, but dont know.
Basicaly ive used one belt to run water pump+alt for nearly 6 yrs and its fine(and was like that when i brought it)

I checked mine earlier today and it looks like the alternator is as you said maybe 10 mil give or take out of alignment toward the back of the van, i'll need to sort it, could you possibly tell me the size of the belt that you use in the 1 belt set up?

Regards,

Rob.
