Syncro front CV Joints
I have a 1987 14" Transporter Syncro (2.1DJ) and recently ordered an new front inner CV joint from an ebay seller. Although advertised as suitable for T25 Syncro 2.1 the seller has now cancelled the transaction saying the one I ordered is 93mm and I actually need a 108mm one (which he doesn't have). Can anyone shed any light on this as I thought only 16" wheeled Syncros needed the larger diameter item?

Re: Syncro front CV Joints
If your van is a 14" syncro then the front inner CV joint is a 90mm version.
Only the 16" syncro's had the larger 108mm joints.

But the front inners are the same for 14" and 16" ? Only the outers that change with the diff lock on a 16"

Erm...are my eyes painted on as well? I thought 90mm didn't sound right so I went out and measured my flange...and all six are 100 mm...
I have found some plastic boots to fit as well...more on that later..

Re: Syncro front CV Joints
Right, for the want of not causing any more confusion for the OP.
The front inner CV joint if your van is a 14" is the same as all of your rear CV joints. Which are also the same as the CV joints on a standard 2 wheel drive van.
So a 16" CV joint is only 8mm larger than a 14" version?

16"
rears are 108mm
front inners are 100mm

Re: Syncro front CV Joints
Thanks for all the responses..... Just so I know I've got it right, mine being a 14" Syncro, my van should have 6 cv joints the same; the inners at the fron and rear and the outers at the rear, all 6 the same as a 'normal' 2WD Type 25. So, only the front outers are in question and it sounds like they are the smaller of the two available (whatever diameter that is)
Am I right in thinking that all the inners are the same, regardless of the version (14" or 16") or even whether the van is 2WD or 4WD?
If so, it seems the eBay seller cancelled my order needlessly, meaning I'm still without my new CV joint. Still, the noise has stopped now so it no longer seems as urgent...

Re: Syncro front CV Joints
yes 6 the same, front outers the smaller of the choice (when available), front inner boots strictly different but can use rear ones no problem
